Our Story
Nothing explains Dinah better than our namesake. Dinah is only mentioned in the Torah once. It tells us how she was sexually assaulted and her brothers went on the avenge her. We never hear the story from Dinah. At least not until Anita Dimant wrote her novel "The Red Tent." Dimant provides a fictional retelling of Dinah's life from childhood to death showing us how vastly different the story could have been when told from a woman's perspective.

Women, BIPOC, and members of the LGBTQ community have been left out of the telling of history for a long time. Here at Dinah, we are committed to making sure that Jews belonging to all different races, denominations, genders, and sexual orientations are given the opportunity to share their story and shape history.

Dinah is where Jewish feminists connect and collaborate to create a better and more equitable Jewish future. Dinah didn't get a voice. It's our duty to use our voices to make sure that no story is left out of the telling of Jewish history.
